| COMPUTER COMPATIBILITY What sort of computer do I need to watch the CancerTalk webcast? A relatively new computer (either a Windows PC or Macintosh) that can play audio, an internet connection, and a web browser with QuickTime are all that's needed. What sort of internet connection do I need? We recommend a fast dial-up connection or a broadband connection (such as cable or DSL). There are two ways to watch the CancerTalk webcast: • the live show can be broadcast to your computer • archives of past shows can be broadcast to your computer at any time. What's a web browser and how can I find out if I have one? All newer computers come with a web browser already installed - if you can read this page then you have a web browser! It's just the software that you use to visit web pages on the internet - popular web browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, or Safari. What's QuickTime and how can I find out if I have it? QuickTime is used to give you high quality video and audio inside your favorite web browser. Millions of people use it - most Windows PC's and all Macintosh computers in the last few years have QuickTime already installed. And if your computer has iTunes then you'll definitely have QuickTime. You can find out if you already have QuickTime by going to our QuickTime test page. (If you're curious and want to know more about QuickTime, visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime) I don't have QuickTime - what do I do now? Just download it and install it. QuickTime is free software made by Apple (the same people who make iPods and iTunes) so the process is easy, user-friendly and won't hurt your computer. Visit our QuickTime test page for a link to download QuickTime. |
